── Could you tell us more about the initial challenges you faced when launching OKITIVE?

Kuniyoshi:

Local stations nationwide, excluding Tokyo, have been operating in the same way for about 50 to 60 years. However, as times have changed, communication technology has india email address advanced, and social media and internet advertising have developed rapidly. The impact of this has become particularly noticeable in the last five years, and although there has been an impact from COVID-19, there have been whispers of this for about 10 years.

I still see it as a challenge, but there are few opportunities to try new things, and even if I do try, I often lose motivation. Even if I try, it's difficult to monetize, and I don't know how long I have to endure to see results. In line with the times, it has become necessary to transfer broadcast content to the Web and create Web-only content, including news.

As a company, even though broadcasting is the main means, the role of information dissemination is not limited to broadcasting. So who will be in charge of that task? How do we aim to monetize it? The answer has not yet been found, but we have been persuading people inside and outside the company that we must do something about disseminating information other than broadcasting.



Kuniyoshi:

Initially, we proposed an ideal of 1 million PV in 2-3 years and 10 million PV in 3-4 years. I think this goal is not wrong for the future. Since we cannot expect growth with television alone, it is essential for us to launch the Internet and new businesses in order to fulfill our role as a local station and play a media role.

However, there are few employees with the knowledge to set the direction, so by getting opinions from outside experts, we are moving forward in a way that satisfies the needs of the company. As we continue with these efforts, I feel that the participation of Mr. Yamashita and others has changed the way we think within the company, and by observing how they work, the horizontal influence is spreading.
