This of course led to an increase in supporters and at its peak they were making almost $5,000 a month (from around 950 Patreons). That was in spring 2018. Since then, however, things have been going downhill again. Now they are back at around $3,000 per month (from around 580 supporters). Some of the Patreon supporters have switched to Steady (currently around €900 per month), but a downward trend is still evident overall. Of course, I can only speculate here, but Insert Moin and Hunter & Cron have one thing in common.
The free output is or was quite high. Anyone who publishes content almost every day often costa rica whatsapp has difficulty creating something extra for their supporters. That's why Insert Moin has now made the majority of the free episodes pay-per-view. This was not well received by the community. Hunter & Cron, on the other hand, continues to release so many free videos that it may not even be interesting for many viewers to pay money for a few more videos.
Things are different with many more successful podcasts. Stay Forever, for example, has been growing steadily since it started on Patreon. One reason for this is that they only publish an episode every 1-2 weeks in their free podcast feed. As a supporter, you also get an episode every week. So you get more than 100% of the content when you pay. The added value for the Patreons is simply more noticeable here. That's why it's my impression that podcasts work better on Patreon and Steady, whose output isn't that high yet and which then offers additional episodes for Patreons, instead of putting existing free content behind a paywall.
