VFrench games and apps publisher oodoo has acquired French publisher BeReal for €500 million . The spontaneous content social network had been looking for a buyer for some time to boost its funding, as this had been stagnating in recent years.
Something similar happened with its number of users. BeReal currently has 40 million active users , a figure that stood at 20 million in April 2023 . The app launched in 2020 experienced rapid growth when it became popular in mid-2022 , reaching 10 million daily users, in clear contrast to the 10,000 it had in 2021. However, its growth has since stabilized .
“ Voodoo has a proven track record of driving significant growth in mobile apps. Their resources and expertise will help lead BeReal on a path of sustainable growth as it continues to deliver on its mission of creating an authentic world that keeps you connected to the people you truly care about ,” said Alexis Barreyat , Founder and CEO of BeReal, via a press release .
Barreyat will no longer be part of BeReal and his role as vietnam number data CEO will be handed over to Aymeric Roffé, CEO of Wizz, one of Voodoo's social networks. However, Barreyat's departure will not be immediate, but he will work together with Roffé to ensure a smooth transition and integration that will favour the future development of BeReal.
Voodoo's plans to relaunch BeReal
Founded in 2013, Voodoo is a technology company with 800 employees and focused on creating mobile games and apps. It currently has 7 billion downloads and more than 150 million active users . Voodoo therefore claims that it will be able to boost BeReal to take it to the next level, as it has already done with mobile products such as Helix Jump, Mob Control, Block Jam 3D or Wizz.
To do this, in addition to taking advantage of its experience in this type of operation, it will invest in organic and paid marketing in its various markets and develop new features and products that enhance the attractiveness of the social network, thus leading to a new expansion of its user base.
