What are party federations?

Due to the high number of political parties present in the country, and in the consequent attempt to combat the effects of possible fragmentation, party federations were created through Law 14,208 in September 2021. The concept can be understood as the union of two or more parties that will act in a unified manner before and after the elections, for a minimum period of four years. The union must, necessarily, have national scope.
Parties wishing to form a federation must approve their intention and draw up a common program that must be submitted to the TSE. Despite acting as a single party, the federation does not interfere with the autonomy of the parties that belong to it, and must follow the same rules regarding candidate registration, advertising, etc. The minimum percentage of 30% for candidates of the same gender will also remain mandatory. Regarding the reporting of accounts, the TSE has determined that this must be done individually by each party that belongs to the federation. In other words, each party will make its own report and present the resources raised and spent during the electoral process.
If a party wants to leave the federation before the minimum venezuela mobile database period established, it will be prohibited from joining a new federation or even from creating coalitions for the next two elections after leaving. In addition, the party that leaves will not be able to use the party fund until the end of the minimum four-year agreement. However, the party may participate individually in the election if the break with the federation occurs up to six months before the voting date and if the exit is due to a merger or incorporation between the parties, the penalties will not be applied.
What are party coalitions?
Coalitions can be understood as the possibility of union between parties to contest elections and occur so that party groups can join forces to achieve common electoral goals. In this way, parties that do not have a significant presence in the electoral political scenario can support acronyms with greater appeal with a view to distributing seats.
Thus, coalitions increase their chances of obtaining representation.
Parties may form coalitions for majoritarian and proportional elections, with the only relevant prohibition being that opposing parties in one coalition cannot be allies in another. Until now, coalitions were also permitted for federal, state and municipal elections.
