The story with the Tele2 bill appeared on August 11, 2024. A Pikabu user, who is a Tele2 subscriber, submitted an application to switch to MegaFon while keeping her phone number. A few days later, a debt of 60 thousand rubles for the Beautiful Number service appeared in her Tele2 personal account.

According to the victim, the operator's technical support reported that the debt was due to an application to transfer their "nice number". And although the support service convinced her that she signed some additional agreements, the girl claims that when switching to Tele2, she did not sign any documents or additional agreements that would indicate that the subscriber must pay for transferring her "nice number".

Ultimately, the Tele2 technical support operator suggested that she cancel the application to transfer the number to another operator so that the debt would be cleared.

"You can cancel the application, then you won't have to pay the debt," the operator said.
In Russia, laws allow any subscriber to change their operator while keeping their phone number. For now, you can only switch your number to another operator within your region. However, in June of this year, it became known that the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, on the recommendation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia, plans to expand the procedure for transferring a number from one operator to another and between regions.

To transfer a number, the subscriber must fill out an application on the website of the operator to which he/she wants to switch, having checked in advance that the number is registered to him/her and not to someone else. In addition, the subscriber must make sure that the number is not blocked and that there is money in the account. Eight days after the application for switching to another operator is filled out, the phone number will be transferred.
