Introduction
In recent years, Eurofound has focused its attention on the links between social dialogue, working conditions and work quality, as well as on worker and firm performance. A series of research projects were undertaken to gain a deeper understanding of these links through a comprehensive literature review, analysis of European Enterprise buy phone number list Survey data, and in-depth case studies. This report is based on 21 case studies conducted in four sectors (electromechanical engineering, food processing, financial services and insurance-related activities, and wholesale and retail trade) in six countries: Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Spain, and Sweden. The purpose of the study and the entire series of research projects is to investigate whether and how improving work quality can boost worker and firm performance.
Policy Context:
Creating better jobs and improving the quality of work are essential elements of the European social model. This includes areas such as the organization of work and work activities; training, skills, and employability; health, safety, and well-being; as well as working hours and work-life balance. Improving the quality of employment and working conditions is a new dimension of the European Employment Strategy, which previously focused mainly on quantitative measures, such as increasing employment and reducing unemployment.
